What is LinkedIn's "Enhance Post" button, and what does it actually do?

By the EnhancePost team · 5 min read

LinkedIn's Enhance Post button is an AI rewrite feature inside the post composer: you type a rough draft, click Enhance, and LinkedIn's AI hands back a polished version of your post. It doesn't publish anything by itself — the rewrite lands in the editor, and you decide whether to post, edit, or throw it away. It's the rebranded successor to the earlier "Rewrite with AI" / "Write with AI" buttons, and access has mostly been tied to LinkedIn Premium, rolling out unevenly by account and region.

That's the one-line answer. The more useful question is what the rewrite actually changes — and what it quietly adds.

What it changes in your draft

In practice the button does four things to a typical draft:

  1. Smooths the grammar and tone. Fragments become full sentences, casual phrasing becomes "professional" phrasing.
  2. Restructures for the feed. Long paragraphs get broken into short ones; a hook-ish first line often gets moved up.
  3. Standardizes the voice. Your sentence rhythm, word choices, and quirks are replaced with the model's default register.
  4. Pads and decorates. Rewrites frequently come back longer than the input, with added transitions, em dashes, and sometimes emoji or hashtags you never typed.

Items 1 and 2 are genuinely helpful. Items 3 and 4 are the problem — because the model's default register is now the most recognizable writing style on the internet. In July 2026, Pangram Labs scanned over a million social posts and found LinkedIn accounted for 62% of all flagged AI content, with more than 40% of long-form LinkedIn posts fully machine-written. We broke that study down in "LinkedIn's Enhance Post button is making everyone sound the same".

The tells it tends to add

Em dashes — several per paragraph — where you'd have used a comma or a period.
Announcement openers. "Thrilled to announce", "Excited to share" — even when you weren't announcing anything.
Buzzword swaps. "Use" becomes "leverage", "look at" becomes "delve into", results become "transformative".
Forced triplets. Your two points come back as three: "clarity, consistency, and impact."
A motivational ending you didn't write. "The future is bright. Let's build it together."

The full catalog of these patterns, with examples, is in our AI slop words and phrases list.

What it does NOT do

When to use it, and when to skip it

If your draft has typos and tangled grammar and you don't care much about voice — a routine company update, say — the button is fine. Skip it when the post is supposed to build your credibility: an opinion, a lesson learned, a launch. Those are exactly the posts where sounding like everyone else costs you, and readers are getting good at spotting the fingerprint — see how readers and recruiters spot AI-generated LinkedIn posts.

If you want the polish without the fingerprint, use a rewrite with a goal and a ban list. That's what EnhancePost does: you pick one goal (stronger hook, shorter, more professional, story structure, or de-slop only), the known AI tells are banned outright, your facts are never invented, and live counters check LinkedIn's character and hook limits. Free, no signup, no Premium. We compared the other options honestly in Enhance Post button alternatives.
